TOLEDO BOARD OF REALTORS INFORMATION

The Toledo Board of Realtors®, an association of real estate professionals, is one of the nearly 1,600 real estate boards in the country which make up the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), the largest trade association in the world.

Established in 1910, the Toledo Board of Realtors® has over 1,500 members dedicated to serving the needs of home sellers and buyers in Toledo and the surrounding area, including Lucas, Wood, Fulton, parts of Hancock, Senaca, Sandusky and Ottawa Counties.

By serving the needs of its members, we offer a wide variety of continuing education programs. The board encourages its members to strive for the highest degree of professionalism in the industry.

To facilitate home sales, the board operates a highly efficient, computerized Multiple Listing Service (MLS) with which a home can be effectively marketed to Realtor® members.

In addition to providing education and marketing tools to its members, the board also enforces the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Realtors® which each Realtor® subscribes to when joining the association.

Another area in which the board serves the public is through constant advocacy of private property rights. Through political action and legislative committees, board members work behind the scenes to protect the rights of all homeowners from excessive taxes, inequitable rules and unfair legislation on all levels from local to state to federal.

BOARD STRUCTURE

The Toledo Board of REALTORS® currently has 17 Directors serving on the Board. Each Director is elected by the membership to serve a three year term. The Board of Directors elects a Treasure each year from among themselves, who moves up to President-Elect the next year and then to President the following year. The Immediate President remains on the Board for one year following their term as President. We invite you to contact any of our Directors.

NORIS(NORTHWEST OHIO REAL ESTATE INFORMATION SYSTEM)

Currently there are 11 members of the NORIS Board of Directors. NORIS is a wholly owned subsidiary corporation of TBR. The Board is composed of the TBR President, TBR President-Elect, TBR Chief Executive Officer as well as five Brokers who represent the top five companies in terms of listings and sales in a given year. The remaining Directors are selected from companies who rank from the 6th through the 13th position in terms of listings and sales. Each Director is elected to one term.
